
Julius Berg Kaasin primarily works with intellectual property rights (IP) such as brands, copyrights, patents and designs. He also specialises in marketing rights, trade secrets and technology rights. Julius assists clients with the establishment, enforcement and commercialisation of all types of IP rights, and he has broad industry experience from trade, media, energy, technology and pharmaceutical industries, also from his many years as a corporate lawyer.
Julius has long experience with extensive contract negotiations for all types of commercial contracts, the development of IP strategies, as well as the purchase and sale of technology companies. He is also an experienced litigation lawyer.
Julius has been recognised for his expertise in intellectual property rights by Chambers and Partners, and he was listed as a “Up and coming” in the “Trade in goods” category of Finansavisen’s lawyer survey in 2019, 2020 and 2022. He was also ranked by Finansavisen in the area of “Intellectual property rights” in 2022.
Julius is on the board of the Norwegian Association for the Protection of Industry Property (NIR), the Norwegian Anti-Counterfeiting Group (NACG), and the Licensing Executives Society Scandinavia (LES Scandinavia). He is also a supervisor and examiner in the subject of intellectual property rights for the master’s programmes in law at both the University of Oslo and the University of Bergen. Julius is one of the editors of the intellectual property rights blog “IP-Trollet” and is in high demand as a course instructor and lecturer in his areas of expertise, for instance at the Centre for Continuing Legal Education (JUS) and the Norwegian Industry Property Office.
