Join Us Out in the World: Marita’s Experience from the Future Leader Program in Athens

At Brækhus, we believe that the lawyer of the future needs to understand how law intersects with an increasingly international business landscape. That’s why we offer our employees opportunities to participate in professional gatherings, leadership programs, and collaborations with lawyers from around the world. Through our global networks, you get to develop both professionally and personally as you encounter different perspectives, cultures, and legal challenges.

Recently, our colleague Marita Fisketjønn took part in the international leadership program Future Leader Training in Athens, organised by our network Andersen Global. There, she met young lawyers and legal professionals from across Europe for three days of intensive professional development, casework, and new perspectives.

“It was incredibly inspiring to collaborate with skilled legal professionals from so many countries. We worked together across languages, areas of law, and legal systems,” says Marita.

Future Leader Training: What Do You Gain from an International Experience?

Whether you are early in your career or have several years of experience, an international stay offers both professional growth and personal development. Here are three key benefits we consistently observe:

By working on cases with lawyers from different countries, you gain insight into how legal systems, solutions, and working methods differ. This makes you more adaptable and strengthens your ability to advise both Norwegian and international clients.

2. Stronger Cross-Border Network

You build relationships with other lawyers and advisors in our international network, which can become valuable collaborators or resources in future matters.

3. Personal and Professional Growth

Presenting to an international panel, engaging in discussions with politicians and experts, and closely collaborating with colleagues from across Europe challenges you and helps you grow – strengthening both your legal confidence and cultural competence.

“It’s been incredibly valuable to experience this. I’m returning home with new knowledge, legal insight, and relationships that I know will last,” says Marita.

A Workplace with Vision and Ambition

At Brækhus, we have a clear strategy: People first. We invest heavily in the personal and professional development of our employees. We believe that an international perspective makes us better advisors – and creates a more exciting workplace.

Our ambition is for your time at Brækhus to be the most developmental phase of your career, filled with experiences and opportunities that reach far beyond national borders.
