We have moved into Brækhuset

On 12 October we moved into Wergelandsveien 15. After two years of planning and interior refurbishment, Brækhus now occupies an entire building in central Oslo, next door to the Royal Palace.

“We have spent the past two years making this building into exactly what we want it to be,” says managing partner Atle Carlsen.

Wergelandsveien 15 is a historic building of 3,400 square metres across six floors plus a lower ground floor, with a garden facing the street and a roof terrace on three sides overlooking the Palace Park. Brækhus is the sole tenant. Nationaltheatret station is a six-minute walk away.

Built around the way we work

The building is activity-based. The task decides where you sit: private offices for focused work, meeting rooms for clients, team rooms for groups, and a top floor with a bar and social areas. No one has an assigned desk, and we are fully digital and paperless.

Behind this lies a conviction that the office matters more now, not less. The most important learning happens alongside others, and the building is designed as a place to learn, with varied work settings and room to work side by side.

A decision we made together

The decision to move was made at an all-staff meeting with every employee and partner present, and it was unanimous. A building shapes how you work, who you meet and what the working day looks like, so it was not a decision for management alone. Staff have also helped decide how we sit and use the building.

A building we will share

Brækhuset has dedicated space for breakfast seminars, courses and professional events, and in November we are opening our doors to clients, neighbours and colleagues in the profession.

“We want clients, business partners and students to drop in and make this a meeting place,” says Carlsen.
